PhilosophyOur social studies program strives to engage and inspire. It equips students with skills necessary to access historical content and current events. We believe each student is capable of making a difference in the world, and our curriculum provides them with the tools to do so. The teaching and learning of social studies covers a wide umbrella of content and skills: historical content, social justice and activism, current events, and critical thinking skills. At every grade level, DK through 6th, we want students to think critically about content through student-driven activities, building cultural competency skills. Our program is flexible, but in-depth, and is aligned according to grade level. Keeping in mind the nature of social studies as a discipline, our program allows for the flexibility that follows the interest of the group.
