Swim Instructor - 2025 Summer Year
Curtis is seeking a summer day-camp Swim Instructor to join a supportive, inclusive, and educational learning community as a member of the camp team. Curtis School is a DK-6 co-ed elementary school whose mission is to “develop, in every child, a sound mind in a sound body, governed by a compassionate heart.”
As a Swim Instructor, you'll be responsible for teaching campers of various ages and skill levels how to swim, improving their water safety skills, and ensuring a fun and secure environment at the camp pool.

Duties and Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to:
- Teach swim lessons to campers of varying ages and skill levels using approved curriculum and techniques.
- Plan and lead engaging water-based activities and games that promote confidence and enjoyment in the water.
- Supervise campers during instructional and recreational swim periods, maintaining constant visual contact and attentiveness.
- Assists in monitoring and cleaning locker room area(s) and related facilities and equipment.
- Be prepared to respond swiftly to emergencies, including performing water rescues and administering first aid/CPR.
Attend and participate in all required staff training, safety drills, and team meetings. - Serve as a positive role model for campers, demonstrating enthusiasm, respect, and professionalism.
Qualifications & Skills
A successful candidate must:
- Current Lifeguard Certification (Red Cross or equivalent) preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certifications required.
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred.
- Prior experience teaching swim lessons or working with children in aquatic settings is a strong plus.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- High level of responsibility, patience, and energy.
- Be available to work from June 23, 2025 - August 1, 2025
- Be able to adhere to a 8:30 am - 2:30 pm daily work schedule
