Camp Counselor
Curtis is seeking enthusiastic summer day-camp counselors to join a supportive, inclusive, and educational learning community as a member of the camp team. Curtis School is a DK-6 co-ed elementary school whose mission is to “develop, in every child, a sound mind in a sound body, governed by a compassionate heart.”
We place an equal emphasis on physical, social-emotional, and character education and instill a growth mindset modeled by faculty and staff who are the best in their craft. As a Summer Camp Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in creating a positive, fun, and inclusive environment for campers. You will work closely with children aged 5-12 to lead activities, provide mentorship, and ensure their safety and well-being throughout the summer. Your creativity, patience, and enthusiasm will help make each camper’s experience unforgettable.

Duties and Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to:
Foster a positive, encouraging, and inclusive environment for all campers, promoting teamwork, respect, and personal growth.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers at all times.
Act as a role model by displaying positive behavior, strong communication skills, and a helpful attitude.
Actively participate in all camp activities along with campers.
Remain off of personal devices at all times during the camp day, with the exception of staff member’s break.
Lead team building activities for camp participants.
Provide guidance and support to campers, addressing any issues or concerns that may arise during camp activities.
Communicate effectively with camp staff, parents and camp directors to ensure a smooth operation.
Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and adapt them based on camper interests and abilities.
Ensure all campers adhere to camp rules and guidelines.
Participate in and supervise daily swimming activities, including swimming with campers
Supervises campers during locker room transition times
Provides high-quality educational and recreational opportunities and enjoyable experiences for camp participants
Takes and maintains attendance.
Assists in morning and afternoon carpool drop-off and pick-up and with collection of student belongings at the end of the day.
Participate in staff training and meetings from June 23, 2025 - June 27, 20225
Qualifications & Skills
A successful candidate must:
Be at least 18 years of age
Be available to work from June 23rd, 2025 - August 1, 2025
Be able to adhere to an 8:00 am - 3:00 pm daily work schedule
- Have education and experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field, or interest in gaining such education and experience. Experience working with elementary-aged students is a plus.
- Understand the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus
